"To Share A Dance"
It was with you that I danced
and the field that laid bare was graced
with dandelion seeds that flew from your heart.
The sun raised from beneath our feet,
it drew closer until our hands met,
faintly at first, but with time, clasping.
I imagined leaning further into your arms,
Eventually wrapping mine around you;
tugging ever so gently on your attention.
As I danced with you, my eyes fled;
they hid under your approach,
darting between blades of grass.
My feet felt soaked in rust, a color you saw.
You must have felt my unease though your hands:
The restlessness of dandelion seeds settling in.
I knew it was there, the beating of time
But I let it slip through our hands as I relaxed my grip,
and finally looked up to meet your eyes.
